Gong Xi Fa Cai**
1. It looks like the Arab countries are experiencing some kind of revolution. Apparently the people are not happy with the leadership of their largely authoritarian Governments. Equally obviously they want a change of Governments or the leaders.
2. The revolution has succeeded in Tunisia. Now we are seeing upheavals in Egypt.
3. Should these revolutions succeed there would be new Governments. But it is worthwhile to remember that change is not always for the better. It is incumbent upon those bent on effecting change to have some idea about the kind of Governments they want. Otherwise they may get the same kind of Governments that they try so hard to be rid off. This is because most leaders upon achieving power would change and would forget the struggles and sacrifices which enabled them to be in power. Power corrupts as we all know.

4. Perhaps in order to avoid a new dictatorship from emerging, democracy would be chosen. A democratic leader can be changed merely through voting.
5. But the system can be abused. Either the elected leader would fix elections to perpetuate his office or there would be a series of ineffective Governments as the people reject each one with their votes. This will cause instability. The country would be no better.
6. To avoid this the electorate must not allow themselves to be manipulated. They must exercise their voting rights judiciously. But this would be something new to them and they may not be skilled enough in exercising their power to choose.
7. I will not presume to know all the needs of the countries concerned, much less to provide solutions.
8. Whatever, the new Governments must never forget the people who so courageously rose against the previous Governments. They had done so because they expect a better Government which will care for the people. I am told that high unemployment rate is one of the major causes. This problem must be given priority or the same fate will be met by the new Government. This will require better management of the economy, in particular the creation of more jobs.
9. Corruption in the administration must be reduced. Drastic measures will be needed. For this the most important thing is for the new ruling elites, particularly the leader, however chosen to demonstrate that they are not corrupt.
10. The skills in administration must be upgraded so that Government would be able to deliver on promises of better governance.
11. I feel sad that not a single Muslim country is classified as developed. Almost invariably it is due to Government incompetence. We see some hope in the progress made by Turkey. But even Turkey is far from being a developed country.
12. There will be some Muslims who will say that being developed is not important to Islam. What is important is to be Islamic according to their interpretation of the teachings of Islam.
13. This is fallacious. We know that the reason for the oppression of Muslim countries and discrimination against Muslims that we see today is because they are underdeveloped and weak. They are labeled as terrorists. They have no capacity to protect themselves. They are forever dependent on aid, usually by the powerful countries. And when powerful countries give aid, it is not free. They have to toe the line determined by the donors.
14. Does Islam teach us to be weak and poor, to be beggars incapable of defending ourselves? Certainly not. Therefore in striving to become a developed country we are not going against the teachings of Islam. Indeed what we will be doing is to restore the good image of Islam and to counter the propaganda that Islam is the cause of the poverty and incompetence of Muslims. To defend Islam and the Muslims, to regain respect for the religion cannot be against the teachings of Islam.
15. I hope and pray that those who replace the displaced Governments will govern their countries well and much good will come from the sacrifices made by the demonstrators.

Salam Tun
I agree with your paragraphs 13 and 14 that Islam does not teach us not to develop economically. I think if we see the Prophet Muhammad PBUH's example, a lot of economic developments were carried out in Mecca and Medinah during the Prophet PBUH and the Sahabbahs' rules. The Prophet PBUH was also an Administrator of Medinah when he migrated. The Medinans chose The Prophet PBUH themselves to lead them. So you can see during the glor of Islam round about the Umar's Caliphate, there were many beautiful mosques such as the El-Hambra Mosque in Spain, which we can see its beauty and existence until today.
In this context, I feel the traditional and fundamental ulamaks who just come from the kampungs such as Kelantan and Trengganu need to travel more and widen their persepetives. I believe that in order for one to tell a Christian that Islam is the rigthful religion and that the Christian follower's Bible had been altered and falsified, we need to master the Holy Quranand also need to study the Bible itself in order to proof its falsehood and show our mastery and expertise of both Islam and Christianity.
Assalamualaikum Tun. In this entry I'm touched by your 11th to 14th points.
"In striving to become a developed country we are not going against the teachings of Islam. Indeed what we will be doing is to restore the good image of Islam and to counter the propaganda that Islam is the cause of the poverty and incompetence of Muslims. To defend Islam and the Muslims, to regain respect for the religion cannot be against the teachings of Islam."
For someone so young and amateur on life like me, that was an inspiration. The keys here are "education and knowledge, and skills and the desire to strive to be better" I think. About how really important they are, not just for one's self; it's for one's nation, one's religion, one's people, all the way through.

Hi Tun,
I think we in Malaysia have come to realise one thing after all the turmoil that has been going on in Egypt. We just have too manys students there!
I was amazed at just how many of our Malaysian students are studying in Egypt. I understand if they are going there to enhance their knowledge in Islamic studies or Arabic but medical courses? There are 20 odd medical schools in Malaysia, both private and government. The government universities especially, have churned out many distinguished doctors who have not only made a name for themselves here but also abroad. The medical standard in our country is so high and should we not be sending our students to local medical schools to meet the needs of our healthcare system.
Is there really a need to send these students to Egypt and then spend RM50 million to bring them back? And now, spend "X" amount to send them back? Wonder who is going to foot this bill? Appreciate your comments on this Tun.
Thanks

...It is surprising that when talking about the glorious days of Islam, many of us focus on military rather than economic domination. Military force could not last for centuries, but a sustained economy and stable society could...//
1-I fully concur with lutfi fadil. Many people including Muslims believe that Islam was spread by the sword. Not true! The Arabs came into the religion in crowds at their own freewill soon after Islam was fully practiced at the trade/religious centre of Arabia,Mecca after the conquest.
2-In the Ottoman Empire only the regions in touch with the trade centre of the Mediterranean, Istanbul were converted en masse to Islam while those far from these influences like Greece,Romania,Czechoslovakia,Bulgaria etc remained Christians. In India/China only those part of the Northern Silk trading route ie.linking Punjab to Shaanxi and the Southern Silk Route linking Bengal to Yunnan accepted Islam in crowds.
3-Most of Budddhist Central Asian in the heart of the Silk Route were influenced to Islam through these trading activities.Ditto for the millions converted from Hinduism and Buddhism along the Straits of Malacca. No doubt at all,it was the traders that brought Islam into Africa too.
4-From these respective trade centres the economic system delivered justice and equity that won the confidence of the traders from all faiths who have witnessed it and later share these information with all the people they meet as they trade in the region.Through exponential growth of this communication grapevine the message eventually enter all homes surrounding these trade centres effectively.
5-This is the missing link of Islam today as a result of systematic corruption done during the centuries of European colonization. But the all knowing God is fully aware of the fate that was befalling His religion and had assuredly promised to protect and restore it.According to the Prophet SAW,the Al Mahdi will come to bring justice and equity to this world. He will be empowered the way the Quraish empowered the prophet, suggesting that it will be the way of the prophet again.
6-With the help of a handful of the selected helpers he will begin his mission to introduce the rightly restored Islam to the new chosen Pagans people who are the right leadership material of the 21st century just as the Pagan Arabs were the ready leaders selected for the 7th Century AD.These people have been prophesied to come from the East, could it be China?
7-With the 21st century leverages afforded things may not be so difficult. Its only a global village now and even the whole world is smaller than the Arabian Peninsular 1400 years ago. With God's help and all these telecommunication magic the Al Mahdi may require a much shorter time. The Al Mahdi will win the world over through an unthinkable peaceful move.
8-Islam has its owner and He will surely restore it.God have promised a good ending of history for 'peace' will finally be proclaimed over all mankind although the disbelievers will detest it.They scheme and they plan but Allah plans too but surely Allah is the best of planners.Wallahualam.

Hi Tun,
Some domino-effect in our history to share with.
If Spain is still under the Moorish rule,
Christopher Columbus would not have discovered America.
If Christopher Columbus did not discover America,
Britain would not be able to fight Hitler single-handedly.
If Britain failed to fight Hitler, Hitler would have ruled the world.
We, not being the "superior" people, would have been gassed, enslaved by those self-proclaimed "superior" people.
Not to mention the relatively petty things like freedom of speech, the internet, the space stations, all will not exist today.
That watershed moment, is all due to the Moorish retreat from Spain. What a sandiwara.
Assalamualaikum Tun, allow me to share an article from my blog that relates to this issue:
The upheavals in Arab countries can be traced down to an unequal society. There are the rich, the poor, and nothing in between. It is a sad fact that this scenario plagues many Muslim nations. It might be the factor that none of the Muslim countries being classified as a developed nation. Not UAE with its architectural splendour, or even Turkey with its proud secularism. The scenario is made worse when the rich use their power to put favour on their side, manipulating the system, lobbying others and executing competitions. Speaking in particular of the Arab countries, those who call themselves ‘in power’ are in fact delusional. It is no secret that most of the Arab leaders are put in the throne by the help of Western countries, therefore forever being indebted. If they are in fact in power, why do they seek help and protection from the West? Isn’t that a sign of weakness?
How did we come to this? Why are we so weak both politically and economically? Is it because in Islam, success in this world is not worthy of pursuit compared to the success in the afterlife? Does Islam teach its followers to settle with weakness in this world, to live in poverty, to be oppressed, looked down upon, killed and slaughtered, because the world is just transitory? If so, if Islam teaches us to completely focus on the afterlife and ignore worldly matters, why would Salahudin Al Ayubi dedicate his whole lifetime to conquer Jerusalem? Why would Sultan Ahmad Al-Fatih risk his life to conquer Constantinople? Why would Taariq bin Ziyad take the hardships of bowing Andalucían kings to their knees? If worldly success is not that important, why wouldn’t they stay in the comfort of their homes, and spend their time doing usrahs, waiting for people to come and join in instead of them going out into the world to inspire people to embrace Islam?
The nations in power today are not afraid to oppress and discriminate against Muslims because they know that we are weak. They know that we are incapable of defending ourselves and will always depend on them for economic stability. Hence, they can do what they will. Every Muslim know that there will be a day where Islam will rise again, but how do we expect the forthcoming of that glorious age, when we let ourselves ignore success in this world and be content with weakness? Many believe that the rise of Islam in the future will be attributed by swords, shields and courage of steel. I beg to differ. I believe that the rise of Islam will not be through military might. In fact, it has never been. I won’t deny that Islam has great military strength throughout its glorious days, but it doesn’t mean that Islam won the world by the tip of the sword. In fact, the Quran states that it is forbidden to make others to embrace Islam by force. Islam was spread by the message of truth, peace and love. People in the past embraced Islam willingly because for the first time in their lives, they see justice and equal treatments towards all layers of society. Whether you are a slave or an aristocrat, you get the same protection, the same treatment and the same opportunity to achieve success. Our weakness today can easily be traced down to these rhetoric questions: where is the justice today? Where is the equal treatments to all layers of society?
It is surprising that when talking about the glorious days of Islam, many of us focus on military rather than economic domination. Military force could not last for centuries, but a sustained economy and stable society could. During the time of Caliph Umar Abdul Aziz, the economy was so stable that they achieved 0% poverty rate. The government at one time had no idea on whom to give zakat aid to. This impressive economy feat leads to a stable society, witnessed by decrease in crime rates, social ills and corruption to the level of non-existence. Logically, why would you rob or accept bribe from others when you truly have enough for yourself? Sadly, today many hold on stringently to the belief that money corrupts. They dismiss the fact that poverty corrupts society just as well. We resist the pursuit of financial wealth, believing that wealth corrupts moral and distracts us from religion. Humans have the gift to choose. With or without money, if a person chooses to corrupt himself, become corrupt he will. The thing is that with money, it gives you the opportunity to help the poor. Without money, it gives you the burden of helping yourself.
It is high time we restore the image of Islam. It is time to practice what we preach in sermons, usrahs and religious talks. Until when do we da’wah among ourselves in closed vicinities and expect the world outside to change? Many give talks about social ills ruining the Muslim society, but few ever went down the stage to tackle the root of the problem: poverty and socio-economic inequality. Not many are brave enough to pursue economic dominance, believing ‘duit tak bawak mati’ and just let fellow Muslims ‘mati’ by economic oppression. Many still choose courses on ‘Cara-cara bercinta menurut Islam’ and ‘Mendirikan mahligai rumah tangga’ over courses on international relations, socioeconomics and modern science that could truly advance the Muslim society. Many are inspired by the courage of Salahudin Al-Ayubi, but yet few are courageous enough just to stand up and speak. Many are furious when the non-Muslims label Islam as terrorists but few ever took the time to get involved with the public to show them what Islam is all about. Isn’t education by example the best way to inspire others to embrace Islam? Everything in life is about balance, Islam never separates between the world and afterlife success. It is time to compete and become winners in all aspect of the world. Let us get involved in international issue, acquire knowledge that could advance the Muslim society and pursue success. Isn't the azan we hear 5 times a day has the phrase 'Let us achieve success?'. Here’s hoping that our generation is the one that contributes to the beginning of the rise of Islam. InsyaAllah

Assalamualaikum Tun,
i strongly believed that all the chaos that plagued the Middle east country are being STAGED.
A 'move' that will wipe the entire Muslims/Arab's country...... simple, let them fight with each other and they will trap in their civil war forever......... then THEY will come n 'rescue' your government/peoples....... like Iraq..... just provoke with cheap propagandas ; eg: Autocrates regimes.. n the peoples will rise...
me, Avizairil //
1-Possible..very posible. These moves will also help create new weak untested Govts. With the Jews orchestrating all the whatever it takes, the Middle East will be even weaker than it already is now.
2-Is it time already for the Grand Plan to install Jerusalem as the new capital of Israel? The shifting of capital of the World Civilization from the USA to the Middle East?
3-This be the case, then Iran better watch out. No,the toothless USA now is not the one to fear but instead that country that they have wanted to wipe out in the first place.A case of Iran asking for it?
4-The Dow Jones is already slightly above 12000 pts now. From my rough mental calculation that time is now!
5-The promised Al Mahadi must also be preparing himself somewhere in the East to later save the Muslims in that time of tribulation.Just because we can't see the logic doesn't mean that salvation cannot come.
6-Our brains has its limitation. But soon it will be crystal clear. They scheme and they plan and God plans too and surely God is the best of planners.Muslims must believe, God's promise is true.
Thanks Tun.
Salam kasih dan salam hormat Ayahanda Tun,
Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun, Singapore will only agree to the bridge widening or maybe even replacement project in 2025 when WPI has matured into a satellite Singapore Township, or when they have already successfully limit their loses and opened up newer gains, in short they would never agree to an elevated project until they have majority stake control over PTP. But at the rates things are going now that would be by 2025-2030.
Is the BN government being smartly proactive with their governing? With questionable Malaysian bylaws such as when merely RM250, 000 entitles Singaporeans for a house purchase here (multiple), and in that anthem too, they are already heading fast and deep into Melaka, and ordinary Malaysian rakyat would all go poor by 2020. Am I being racist with that statement? No, I am being patriotic. I was driven to Melaka by a dear Chinese friend to show me the points. He being as Malaysian as I am is just as equally concern with the kind of future we would be leaving behind for our kids and grand kids someday.
What is RM250, 000 to Singaporeans? It is only about SD110, 000 only. The average apartment purchased in Singapore for 2007 to 2009 had ranged from SD160, 000 to SGD 500,000 and all were taken up beyond supply.
So what is SGD 110,000 to them of hire purchase value when their average mid-level individual income per-year is SD28, 000 to SD35, 000? In the future, that would easily translate to the fact that when WPI is in full swing, more Singaporeans would be staying in and around WPI and they would be buying up their needs in cheaper Malaysia thus pushing consumer pricing index higher. This would spill over into Greater Gelang Patah, Skudai, Kampung Majidee and it would never stop there too, it would then link up with Ayer Keroh, Krubong and it would make south Malaysia higher and steeper in living cost. With over 5 million populace expected by 2025 in WPI, just imagine the kind of economic balloons we are looking at here. National inflationary rates are measured with CPI readings, how do you think our inflation rates would be like in 2025 for these areas? How about our local buying power? Up or down?
So can Malaysians afford to live in these areas then? Would they still have buying power? Answer me truthfully JPM, take into account the 7 Badawi SSDT points – would we still have buying power in 2025? One of the primary issues then was on who gets to run WPI. As we all know, the Singaporeans had pushed the Badawi Admin into agreeing that it would be run not under the municipality of MPJB or even the State MB Office, but it would be run by a corporation.
Today over majority of that group (pooled of main and 2nd tier vehicle companies) are based from Hong Kong and Singapore. The Malay big shots working in WPI today are just window dressing. Don’t push me into telling their personal expenses habits too. People watch, make and then compare notes these days.
The various Majlis Perbandaran (5 all together) may have land vested in WPI, but they have no real jurisdiction anymore. Even by now if you asked them too much into their jurisdictions, they won’t be able to answer you anyway - what’s with all the overlaps that are starring at them in the face. So it would be that foreign corporation that’s going to be in control of all. This would then makes thing very easy for foreigners to buy up South Malaysia on the cheap sale silently.
Akta Pengambilan Tanah 1960 (one on Lease Hold tenure) would normally falls into the jurisdiction of the State MB office, but mark my word – one day this would be amended so that it may be exercised by that particular corporation with Singapore banks ready to back them from loans (defaulted) that was taken from them by Malaysians. Don’t count on that one Akta as braking-mechanism for human needs and greed. All this is not impossible, it is the pipeline, and it would all hit us by surprise one day. Our courts would just end up as 2 minutes rubber-stamping joints by greedy S&P lawyers.
UMNO must now put their billions where their mouth is and rectify this oversight now. Or UMNO may have no more business going into the Malay heartlands, telling all those over rated fabrications of their Malay struggles and Bumiputera glories for more unwary votes. Put your money where your mouth is this time UMNO. Many of your enemies out here today were once your strong points within.
I had a teh tarik reunion last week with a small community group off-the Tebrau shopping area and one of them told me that beef sold at the weekly pasar tani were mainly reserved for Singaporeans who have pre-ordered earlier. The locals only get to buy what’s left out and when there’s even no left over the frozen imported Indian buffalo meat at supermarkets would have to do. I was told that on an average daily, 200 Malaysian cows get slaughtered and meat processed and shipped across the cross way for more profits. I reckon this is simply a black market profiteering on an individual greed level, but still it reflects on the general economic sentiments here in present day Johor. Now imagine that with my points above in 2025?
I feel that logic says we would lose from Stulang to Malim Melaka by 2025. In Krubong Melaka there is already a township of substandard bungalows going for the asking of exactly RM250, 000 (I say substandard cause I’ve inspected it already) but it is almost all fully sold out I was told – guess who buys them? At the very least, if Malaysians must tolerate bylaws that would eventually finish us off, at least revamp the local banking guideline whereby maximum 100% housing loan wont just stop at properties valued at RM220, 000 or below. At least create a level playing field for the locals to compete with the incoming Singaporeans. Give out to RM250, 000 for maximum loans on housing purchases to locals and bar-out Singaporean banks from cutting pass local banks in terms of WPI financing packages. Why is the government playing dumb on this? Go to Ayer Keroh Toll on weekends and count the Singapore registered vehicles that’s coming in off PLUS. Why are they visiting Melaka in the numbers?
As is, the banks here are just interested in scalping the rakyat further and at the same time closing one eye to the new re-colonization of Malaysia. Tun, in the past we have debated here about economic/geopolitical re-colonization of this land, this place we call home. A lot of good we have achieved around this cyber space, this virtual battle field you've created. Well, here and now I present your good self the facts and I have also identify the agent provocateur for you with the loop holes that needs to be looked into. Would anything come out of it? Top bankers do not seem to want to realize this. The trouble with corporate mind frame is that they think they are already in the executive ruling class of the nation. Thus they only deal with macros and never bother to figure out the long term risks and exposures. In most cases they have to please more than just 1 god already. But maybe a pensioner can make that clarion call.
Elected politicians these days shy away from critical thinkers and if you follow Ahmad Maslan kind of umnologic; just brand the critical thinkers opposition instead! That fixes all the problems already for UMNO I’m sure.
I am sorry Tun, but for a great many years UMNO has seriously lacked critical forward thinking. I am not saying it doesn’t exist, but often they get shut down very early and shipped out to either PAS or PKR. UMNO was playing the 5 years survival plans too seriously and it all culminated into future destruction for all of us. Now UMNO should undo that entire episodes first and not sweep anything under any PWTC rug just yet and promised more new ones. But I am afraid from now to 2025 the Singaporeans had gotten UMNO with line hook and sinker this time for sure. The government must listen to critical thinkers instead of counting on political thinkers for political formulas good only for 5 years. What is the plight of the simple heavy school bags dilemma in this God given year 2011? You know the answer for that already.
Critical thinkers such as Royal Professor Y.M Ungku Aziz who had submitted the LUTH plan in 1959 to safeguard Malay lands from being sold off to non Malays at the start of each pilgrimage season for monetary passage; for fees into Hajj in the Holy Land, is acutely lacking now within UMNO. For goodness sake, they don’t even go near UMNO anymore. You only get yes man and yes woman there. Look at the depository trend among the LUTH depositors; then back in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s on average they would contribute RM50 per month with merely an RM5, 000 balance. Now the numbers have positively changed incredibly and that reflects what critical thinking’s had done good to all of us.
1 Malaysia is negatively separating the numbers in-between UMNO and people are confused. When we vote for DSN, what exactly are we voting for? For UMNO that practices racial based politics or for 1 Malaysia brand that seems to contradict that? So just who is this brand? Brand diversification and market segmenting with this close a call may back fire for 1 Malaysia teamster and draw in less than the projected 35% numbers for any probable planned power consolidation later. That we have not factored in Sabah and Sarawak voting result composition just yet. Belittling PAS and PKR won’t hide that probability at all and in politic especially as naïve as this one here we’ve got to work with, all it takes is just probability to torpedo and seriously begin sinking your opponents.
As hard as one may have tried to reason, and then try reasoning some more for as hard as you wish on fuel subsidy cuts and IPP issue, you know that it is a waste of time anyway. For 100 reasons presented with numbers and facts (that you wish would justify), all it takes is just one blind angry notion from an already overburdened and angry voter to shoot it down in smokes. You know that and I know that. At best, that argument is a moot point.
Ybhg Tun, please do forgive my nuance of the seemingly negatives here. But I am a peddler of written illusions; you perceive but choose to describe on your own what you’ve seen, thus I may be a chimera of delusions to some and quite the opposite for those who may see that way. I am an insignificant person who seeks zero here, an illusionist of lilt and prose is all that I am. But perhaps critically more real, it is time UMNO begin looking seriously far ahead into their own self made mess and stop blaming others for their own proven weaknesses. In the end, blaming never goes any further than truth.
Just look at where that attitude has taken them to now.
Terima kasih Tun.
Dearest Tun
I think a 'Tahrir Square' gathering could only happen in Malaysia under some or all of these circumstances occuring at the same time after the PRU13;-
1-Rosmah announced that the first ladies summit will be made a bi-annual event to be hosted permanently in KL as an effort to support the UN more effectively and to make KL a truly a popular MICE destination.
2- Rosmah also announced that she has decided to help her husband seek Foreign Direct Investments by making frequent business and investment visits to Dubai,HongKong,New York,London and Paris.
3-Subsidies withdrawn fully while general economic situation did not improve inspite of all positive Govt statistics.
4-Sime recorded another billion dollar loss and Musa said that he would appoint a commitee to investigate but unsure if he would make public the findings.
5-Najib announced the sending of our second astronaut into space -to spite DAP a party that say can only dream of rockets while UMNO can actually send our people on real rockets.
6- A group of policemen was robbed in broad daylight by parang yielding men just after they withdraw their salary from the ATM a day after Najib declared that the police have succeeded to contain street crime eventually.
Thanks Tun
Salam Tun and all fellow bloggers. Gong Xi Fa Cai to all our Chinese friends.
1. HAMBA Allah ( patuh pada semua perentah, jauhi yg dilarang )
2. KALIFAH - PEMIMPIN ( kpd diri sendiri, keluarga, masyarakat , negara dan seterusnya)
3. PEJUANG AGAMA ( bukan dgn senjata tapi mennunjukan akhlak yg baik sebagaimana yg dituntunkan olih Nabi SAW utk memurnikan dan mempertahankan kesucian agama Islam )

Mr Jolly..from the way you writes I sense that you are a an educated and reasonable man.So here is something from Imam Al Ghazali Ihya Ulumiddin for your reading pleasure.I am sorry if we translates them to English, many beautiful essence will be missing.Nevertheless, feels free to translate them if you wish.
Here..in situ
Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda..
Dan kerana itulah Rasullulah s.a.w berkata kepada Jibril a.s
"Aku menyukai bahawa melihat engkau dalam rupa engkau yang dia itu rupa engkau".Jibril a.s menjawab "Engkau tidak sanggup yang demikian".Rasullulah s.a.w menjawab "Akan tetapi perlihatkanlah kepada aku!".Jibril a.s lalu menjanjikan kepada Rasullulah s.a.w perkuburan Baqi' pada malam yang terang bulan.Maka Jibril a.s datang kepada Rasullulah s.a.w lalu Rasullulah s.a.w memandang.
Yakni:segala tepi langit.Maka jatuhlah Rasullulah s.a.w dalam keaadan pengsan. Maka Rasullulah s.a.w bersabda.
"Tiada aku menyangka, bahawa seseorang dari makhluk Allah sebegitu".
Jibril a.s bertanya:"Bagaimana jika engkau melihat Israfil?
Jabir berkata:"Rasullulah s.a.w bersabda
Hi Tun,
I am surprised by the large number of our students in a certain country. If not because of the recent turmoil, the public may never know how large the number is.
Tun may be surprised by the number of SINGAPORE students in the Nordic countries. The public will never know how large the number is.
One day, we will .. wherease Singapore will ..
not too hard to figure out isn't it.
Assalamualaikum Tun,
izinkan saya menjawab komen
[wajaperak]
'sometimes too much effort to show our smartness will leak out our stupidness' - well thats my quote - i didnt pick it from shakespere or whoever la the quoters name might make u fell better.. lol. did u know the joke about a guy using capital letters on their nick- name while chatting in the chatroom? what are they called? they call him "a guy with small d*** syndrome" (im anticipating ur answer like this - ' im quoting hadith and words from ulamak - ulamak)
Kerana usaha anda untuk membuktikan sifat anda itu tidak kebudak budakan , anda buat cabaran anda ini, yang membuat satu tajuk untuk didebatkan. why dont i pick the topic for us to debate, with something im good at? sound fair to u?. then after the debate, whats seems to be the verdict? u win? i win? who the hell cares!!! for god sake, who are we to punish people by reading our crap? lol salahkah saya menegur kebudak budakan itu?
sila baca balik komen anda yang terakhir itu, u are just a big time tattletales!! u tattled to Tun that im posting too general comment. u call that mature?
Sebagai seorang pelawak saya rasa mungkin anda ni berumur 13 kot. sori buang setahun :). kalau tak suka kena komen, then jangan komen, jangan tunjuk pandai. sori i cant pick up any quote from anybody for that. :)lagipun saya orang kampung... tak kenal shakespere...
Mengeluarkan kenyataan umum, dalam konteks kehidupan yang senang difahami mungkin lebih memberi impak kepada pembaca ... dont u think? lagipun pelawak ini selalu bergaul dengan low level society aja. not like u Tuan err Datuk errr Sir or wateverla. but u think high level will buy ur crappy comment? will u impress them with that? or u think people will salute when they see wajaperak's name appear?? oh my god, u re delusional.
(sorry i sense too much sense of humor because im a comedian)
why u need thousand of bullets to shoot 1 simple empty can, while u u need is a simple big ball just to make it fall? (my quote lol - sorry metaphor macam tu orang kampung je yang boleh paham)
in fact, Tulisan tun yang patut jadi tumpuan , bukan dari seorang yang 'google' semua info atau cari quote dalam wikipedia atau mana2 source dan buat posting. do u think many will comment if the blog address is http://wajaperak.co.cc ??? think about it bro. Ataupun u were also mantan Perdana Menteri yang saya tak tau... mmm....sori wajaperak name doesnt ring a bell la.
ok, let me make it simple. its not the war against me u should fight for. its just not worth it. Tun doesnt care. i also dont care. nobody cares. maybe u care ? sorry bro , u re just too lame for me. just focus on Tun's writing and comment with simpler, understandable yet impactfull words. reflect comment of others just to show u agree or disagree when u comment on TUN's WRITING. not the whole comment reflecting my comment. now im loughing out loud seriously!!
Saya minta maaf kepada Tun jika komen - komen saya ini bersifat terlalu naif dan terlalu umum. tapi saya rasa ianya lebih memberi impak kepada pembaca terutama kawan kawan saya yang saya ajak buka blog Tun. if i dont win a million heart, at least im sure i win a few of my fren's heart. thats good enough for me.
Terima Kasih Tun

It is enlightening to compare and contrast among the various great literatures and personalities. Thank you for conveying your side of the knowledge to us.
Concerning another group of people in this world, who often hold views very different from yours, whether one's name or title is "Dato'" or "Tan Sri" etc. does not seems to matter much for them, in the after life.
They believe in the following, quoted from Injil:
quote
The Greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven
1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.
3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Now, what say you.. Thank you.

My Salam to Tun and Tun Dr Hasmah.
I don't believe 'Egypt style' will take place in Malaysia. What is there to complain about? No citizen is 100% satisfied with the government but no government gives out pots of gold to all citizens. Everyone must work hard. There are jobs. Otherwise what are the million or so foreigners doing here?
As for politics, only a few are drumming up issues. For the rest of us, everything seems OK. I can send my kids to school and university. There is PTPTN, free text books, no school fees, very liberal freedom, ample business opportunities and of course a place in the sun for all.
The opposition, they are good at contributing towards noise pollution.
Tun, don't worry about your critics. They are myopics, hipocrites and lazy.
Thank you Tun.
Salam Tun,
Fikir fikirkan lah..
Wasalam
YABhg Tun,
It didn't happen....in Southeast Asia with Communism, will it become a reality.....in the Middle East, this time with the Islamic movements???
Dear Tun,
Reading your views on the upheavals in Tunisia and Egypt, I would like to reflect upon our situation in Malaysia.
Despite I believe that our situation is not a grave as it is in Tunisia or Egypt, the fact remains that we the rakyat still see 'excessiveness' on the part of elected officials and the ruling party leaders and members.
Lets take one simple example that is close to the ruling Government and of which it has direct control on the managing of it. The Ministry of Finance (MoF) have hundreds of companies incorporated and owned by it but only a handful is giving it positive returns.
Why is that so?
One of the reason being these companies are run by individuals so called 'connected' to the ruling party, or more specific UMNO and the way these individuals are chosen are 'poor' to say the least. If not, how can we explain the poor performance by these companies?
Dear Tun,
It always boggles me how can the MoF not realize this or is it the powers that be do realize this but they are 'paralysed' from taking action?
The same is true in many other examples if we are honest enough to admit.
Yes, we cannot change everything overnight and I agree that not all change is for the better but does it mean that we only hope for change?
Maybe Egypt is too extreme a comparison, but is it not the same senarios where the 'rakyat' keep seeing the same being repeated over and over with no end in mind?
In the end the 'rakyat' will conclude enough is enough. Many say it wont happen here. I think that we need to be honest in examining our shortcomings and take action if we love this country.
I believe in your vision Tun and I do not want it destroyed one way or the other for my children and their generation's sake.
Good morning Ayahanda Tun,
From MI news, the Maverick Incredible news portal which is only good in playing 3rd world political sentiments and sensational news because Malaysians are stupid and dumb in international issues…
1. Malaysia A:
Dr M pushes Johor Umno to revive crooked bridge
By Shannon Teoh February 07, 2011
2. KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 — Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad met with Johor Umno over the weekend in an attempt to revive the idea of a crooked bridge to Singapore to replace the Causeway.
3. The Malaysian Insider understands that Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman was obliged to call the meeting with divisional leaders on Saturday where Dr Mahathir asked the party grassroots to pressure the federal government to pursue the project.
4. However, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak having made clear that he is pursuing warmer relations with the island republic, he is unlikely to go ahead without Singapore’s mutual agreement.
5. “The response was very lukewarm,” a Johor Umno division leader told The Malaysian Insider.
6. Several state party leaders also gave the meeting a skip, including Johor Baru MP Datuk Seri Shahrir Abdul Samad and Pulai MP Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
7. Dr Mahathir’s “crooked bridge” project, that aims to tear down the Malaysian half of the Causeway and replace it with a curving bridge high enough for shipping traffic to pass under, was first mooted when he was prime minister in the 1990s but subsequently ditched by his successor Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
8. Dr Mahathir (picture), who still wields a huge influence on Umno despite stepping down in 2003, made his ire towards Abdullah very public and has continued to harangue Najib over the construction of the bridge.
9. But Najib, who is keen to repair bilateral ties with the island republic, has been reluctant to discuss the proposal which was received frostily by Singapore’s government when first mooted.
10. The prime minister has instead preferred to discuss other potential solutions such as a third bridge with Malaysia’s southern neighbour. He has also successfully resolved the long-standing issue of the Malayan Railway land in Singapore last year.
11. Although there is no sign that Dr Mahathir will succeed in getting Johor Umno to challenge Najib’s stand, it is clear that any referendum or agitation will be uncomfortable for the prime minister.
12. Najib has worked to forge a good working relationship with his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong after decades of mutual animosity between Dr Mahathir and Singapore’s first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.
13. When contacted by The Malaysian Insider, Nur Jazlan confirmed that the meeting had taken place but he had missed it as he was still in Kuala Lumpur.
14. “But personally, I don’t really see how the crooked bridge is better,” he said.
15. The proposal to build a bridge to replace the 87-year-old Causeway was justified by Dr Mahathir to ease traffic congestion between Johor Baru and Singapore and facilitate the free flow of water in the Tebrau Straits in addition to allowing ships heading to East Asia to bypass Singapore.
16. But as of July last year, the Najib administration has no intentions of reviving the crooked bridge project proposed by Dr Mahathir to replace the Causeway, according to Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.
17. The minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said the government will stick to the decision reached during Abdullah’s administration.
18. “The crooked bridge will not be built. There have been no talks to revive the project,” Nazri had told The Malaysian Insider.
19. The Causeway was completed in 1923 after four years of construction and cost US$17 million (in 1924 terms). It was the first land link between Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore. The second, called the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link, was completed in 1998.
20. Sultan Ibrahim of Johor had also called for a new bridge to replace the Causeway last November at an investiture ceremony to mark his 52nd birthday.
21. He had said the bridge would be convenient for people travelling to Singapore and back, and encourage tourists from the neighbouring country.
22. Replacing the Causeway would enable water in the straits to flow unhindered and at the same time improve the environment, the state Ruler added.
Common Sense:
A. Singapore Government will look into the SCENERY Bridge project in the Singapore Causeway to expand Singapore-Johor as State and Federal Tourism Revenue.
B. Today, PM and Federal Cabinet task is to make sure no bureaucracy, red tapes, political manipulation & speculation and monopoly of political parties of other states especially Malacca (since Malacca was colonized by Portuguese) in messing up with the project because this is the future macro economic revenue issues between Singapore, Johor and Malaysia at the international level which has nothing to with political parties' micro economic activities.
C. If the Scenery Bridge is built, the track of Bullet Train can be built too so that tourists from the world will be able to see the open scenery views of the Singapore Causeway going into South Malaysia Gate Way at Johor.
D. I am sure Tun Dr MM would like the 'curse of Rahman in marginalizing the Chinese political influence' to be dispersed by Tun Razak's eldest son today.
E. I am wondering will Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore be interested to spearhead the funding for this bridge project?
Good day Ayahanda Tun.
Salam,
Agak2 domino effect ini boleh sampai ke Malaysia?
This Chinese New Year season presents yet another opportunity for all to see as to what Malaysia would have been, had there been no Chinese in Malaysia. Why, most of the major cities are like ghost towns. As I drove through Johor Bahru town, the second largest urban area in Malaysia, I asked myself: "How is Malaysia ever to become an industrialized nation by 2020 without the Chinese?" Not in my wildest dreams! And no, not just the Chinese are contributing to the economy. The hardworking mamaks are the unsung heroes of Malaysia. Without them, it would be hard to have a supper or teh tarik after midnight. And their food and drink prices are reasonable, as compared to many of the Malay stalls or Chinese stalls, for that matter.
So let us live in harmony, and stop planting the seeds of yet another riot here in Malaysia. And let us not try to override the Prophet's Last Sermon where he said that "... an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action." And that means foregoing the Ketuanan Melayu crap or else, declare that Islam is no longer the official religion of Malaysia.
Assalamualaikum Tun,
i strongly believed that all the chaos that plagued the Middle east country are being STAGED.
A 'move' that will wipe the entire Muslims/Arab's country...... simple, let them fight with each other and they will trap in their civil war forever......... then THEY will come n 'rescue' your government/peoples....... like Iraq..... just provoke with cheap propagandas ; eg: Autocrates regimes.. n the peoples will rise...
me, Avizairil
QUOTE: The strength of India — the very idea of India — is its embrace of all colors, all castes, all creeds." — Barack Obama
There used to be a time in Malaysia that whenever Indians get together for a meeting, they always fight. Yet somehow or other, India as a nation has remained intact, except for Muslim separatists in the form of Pakistan. And even the two halves of Pakistan could not live together and ultimately led to the parting of ways in the formation of Bangladesh.
As Barack Obama noted, "the strength of India is its embrace of all colors, castes, and creeds". Could Muslim countries take a lesson from India? Or do they still prefer different strokes for different folks and fight for their own race and religion, while at the same time complaining that others are against them?
Y.Bhg Tun;
1. Kenapa segelintir ahli parlimen negara ini kurang profesional didalam membahasakan dasar negara di parlimen. Sikap dan pemikiran mereka seperti pemikiran orang kelas ketiga berbanding kemudahan/infrustruktur bertaraf dunia (kelas pertama). Mereka menjerit seperti kanak-kanak berkelahi ketika main pondok-pondok.
Hidup Islam, Hidup Malaysia!!!
Ahli Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia.
Dear Tun,
According to BBC the reasons for the protest in Egypt is
Poverty, rising food prices, social exclusion, anger over corruption and a demographic bulge of young people unable to find work have been the main drivers of unrest.
The reasons for unrest are quite similar to the reasons why BN lost 5 states in the 2008 general election when the government raised price of fuel and toll rate by around 40% just 2 months before election purportedly to raise fund for corridors of development at the expense of hardship and difficulties of the voters. Banks interest is also high at around 6% to 7% which should be around 3%. Banks are making billions of annual profits through this exorbitant interest at the expense of SME(small medium enterprise). The government declares non existent schemes to help the SME to white wash the public due to difficulties and the red tapes involved in obtaining such aids or grants. Normally these schemes are being processed by corrupted officers.
If our current government is not sensitive to the problems on the High Streets, we may see the change of government which may not be for the better as Tun said.
amin tan
Assalamualaikum Tun,
Orang - orang seperti wajaperak ni yang sering menghangatkan isu perkauman diantara kaum. emosional sangat. mungkin waja perak tu baru 14 kot umur dia. Macam dah takde idea lain. dulu masa pilihanraya 2008, ketika geng geng PKR ni sibuk berkempen , saya terdengar calon Parlimen Batu Maung memberi Ceramah.
' Grass always look greener on the other side'. bersatupadulah untuk jadi bangsa yang kompetetif.
Assalamualaikum WBT Yg Bhg Tun,
Sekian, Salam Hormat Tun. Terima kasih.
WHAT IS SUCCESS?
DOES IT MEAN.
I MUST BE DEVELOP.
I HAVE A BUNGALOW.
I HAVE BIG CARS.
I AM BETTER THAN OTHERS.
I HAVE WEALTH.
MY CHILDREN WILL DIVIDE MY WEALTH WHEN I,M GONE.
BUT WILL MY WEALTH WILL DIVIDE MY CHILDREN ?
TO HAVE FOOD,CLOTHING,SHELTER.
TIES WITH FAMILY,FRIENDS,SOCIETY,MY RELIGION
IS SUCCESS TO ME.
WE CAN BUILT MALAYSIA,
OUR WAY,OUR STYLE.
IS WHAT WE WANT IT TO BE.
WE DON,T HAVE TO STEPS DEVELOP NATIONS.
WE BUILT IT A UNIQUE WAY.
THE WAY WE WANT,NOT THEIRS.
THIS IS DEVELOPMENT
I AM NOT SAD,NOR FEEL DOWN
SO WHAT IF MOST OR ALL MUSLIM WORLD IS NOT DEVELOPED.
IS DEVELOP MEANT BETTER.
IS DEVELOP MEANT YOU ARE MORE PROSPEROUS THAN OTHERS.
IS DEVELOP MEANT YOU ARE SMARTER THAN OTHERS.
IS DEVELOP MEANT YOU ARE MORE CIVILSED.
IS DEVELOP MEANT YOU R IN TOUCH WITH THE WORLD.
MY DEVELOPMENT IS WHAT I WANT.
WHAT I WANT IT TO BE.
SOFORTH I CAN SHELTER MY FAMILY,
FEED MY FAMILY.
CLOTH MY FAMILY.
THAT IS DEVELOPMENT.
WHAT IS DEVELOPMENT,WHEN WE DESTRUCT NATURE,
DESTROY THE OZONE,THEN
WE MISS NATURE AND BLAME OURSELF FOR IT.
DOES DEVELOPMENT MEAN BETTER ?
YOU ANSWER YOUR OWN QUESTION,
YOU BE RIGHT
I can only summarised as such. If you are living in a country that is ranked badly in Transparency International, chances are the Govt leading it are corrupt. It is inherent on our blood. It takes a strong man or woman to admit it and change it objectively.
Salam Tun
Wajaperak brought out one point that admittedly, I almost forgot, i.e. "This fact all have been forgotten when Tun acted against "Sultan" at that time. He suffer's many anguish moment and the malay in power practically deserted him. Those rampage you mentioned will not happened as long the Malay remains cowards and not practice Islam fully."
There is absolutely no doubt that the so-called constitutional crisis does bring out the best in Tun. He was not only fearless but he was indeed a maverick. Given the constitutional safeguards that protect the Sultans, Tun would have been in hot soup. But he came out of it unscathed, and although he did not get everything he wanted, he got what he wanted most, i.e. that parliamentary bills shall not be delayed indefinitely at someone’s pleasure. Tun will always be remembered favorably for what he has done in this respect... for no one, absolutely no one, in Malaysia can ever do it, not even Anwar, much less the Tunku.
When one is put in charge of Islam for each state, one would think that the person would have a heavy burden of responsibility to at least try to practise a truly Muslim life, if not to become a role model... but the reality is something else. More, I cannot and will not say... unless I am looking for trouble. Truth hurts.
Salam Tun,
Lakukanlah anjakan paradigma.
Assalamualaikum Tun.
Seperti juga negara Mesir dan Arab lain.Rakyat mahukan pertukaran kerajaan/pemimpin.
Terima kasih Tun.
Assalamualaikum WBT Yg Bhg Tun,
Sekian, terima kasih. Salam hormat untuk Tun.

Dear Tun,
DOMINO EFFECT
Your posting is the word of a true Statesman. What is important at the end of the day is the achievement of the common good for the citizens in general.
A nation needs both technocrates to solve problems and look for solutions; and unfortunately politicians as any group activities will involve politics of some sort.
Politician needs to lead and technocrates bring development. Politicians needs to create the stability so the Technocrates can do their work.
Keep politicians out of roles that require technocrates!!
NIK AZIZ DAN KWAN YEW
Tun I beg to defer. I believe you are above all these narrow views of politics, either locally or internationally.
It may be that you are frustrated by the state of affairs in Malaysia. And the seemingly divisive (to the Malays) nature of the politics of PAS and PKR.
Tun you are bigger then all this. we need you to be above local politics. Above UMNO, PAS, PKR, DAP, MIC, MCA, etc.....
You are someone who can look at the bigger picture and be seen to be impartial and objective in providing your views on local politics.
As we all know its all a matter of each others point of views and perceptions.
DSAI has his views as to what Malaysia needs to move forward and prosper.
Nik Aziz also had his views on what will be good for Malaysia.
Hitting at Kwan Yew at a personally level is bringing oneself to his low level. Kwan Yew's only interest is his Singapore. Its not even about the people of Singapore but Singapore the country (or some will say Singapore Inc) his "creation" his "Baby".
He will do anything to make sure his Baby survives. Is he wrong to do it. I am sure not cause he is just ensuring his Singapore survives.
Nik Aziz thinks Malaysia Need to Be a Islamic nation. So he is doing everyting he can to achieve this goal. Is it wrong? Yes he is willing to change strategy and alliances if in the end he achieves his goal.
DSAI lets assume his goal is sincere to achieve in making Malaysia a democracy in the mirror of the western world's model. Is he wrong?
Now lets look at UMNO and BN. Ask any PAS, DAP, PKR, etc supporter and ONE common grouse rings LOUD....ABUSE OF POWER AND CORRUPTION.
Be in True or Perceived. Now What is BN doing to change this situation and perception....If you ask me NOT ENOUGH. The feeling runs deep in these people!!!
I implore TUN be the driving force in the fight to eliminate the system of any ABUSE OF POWER (CORRUPTION INCLUDED) and improve the negative perception in the general public!!!
SEJARAH
Truth is relative the the beholder as Beauty is. Our world view are shaped by our upbringing, believes, environment. We are not able to perceive the ABSOLUTE Truth..Only ALLAH the creator know the ABSOLUTE TRUTH.
Facts as we know it depends and how and the way we look at it.
So, yes Sejarah needs to be studied with an open mind and taken with a pinch of salt.
KAUM MELAYU SINGAPURA
From young all singaporeans including their Malays have been indroctinated with the believe in self. That they are and can be the best and therefore better than others including Malaysia, esp. They are taught to be proud of their achievements and themselves. All this is necessary for SINGAPORE's survival...as LKY believes.
Thus the SINGAPORE Malays alway think highly of themselves even if their achievements are nothing to cry about.
Its about self believe.
Forgive them their shortcomings. After all racially, they are a minority and will stay that way...for as long as PAP are in power that is for sure.
AS for the other political parties in Singapore..don't expect much from them for atleast another generation. All the bright minds and able leaders have been mined by the PAP even as they enter the varsities.....
MEDIUM OF TEACHING
Malaysia is stuck with the present education system which is politically driven. It is not progressive and not good for nation building....but that is the way it is...for political stability.
Until perhaps a very strong PARTY ala PAP in singapore comes into power in Malaysia...and unilaterally enforce a SINGLE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.
SO until that happens ... lets just forget about it and go back to our ways...the chinese being chinese, the indians indians and Malays malay....and we can live politically happy ever after.
Salam Hormat dan Terima Kasih Tun.

Salam Tun,
Be more constructive, MCA veep tells Mahathir
PETALING JAYA: “Tanah Melayu” is the geographical name for Peninsular Malaysia in its historical context and there is no reason to argue otherwise, just like the independence of this country was fought by all ethnic communities’ leaders.
MCA vice-president Gan Ping Sieu said that “history cannot be rewritten.” He was responding to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s comments that Malaysia belongs to the Malays and other races should respect Malay sovereignty.
Dr Mahathir had said in a talk earlier this week that “this country belongs to the Malay race. Peninsular Malaysia was known as Tanah Melayu but this cannot be said because it will be considered racist.
“We must be sincere and accept that the country is Tanah Melayu.”
In a statement yesterday, Gan said: “As a senior statesman, the rakyat expects Tun to be a fatherly figure and his stature and remarks should be more unifying and constructive.”
Gan added that Malaysians should preserve and value the social order that our forefathers fought hard to build.
On Dr Mahathir’s comment on non-Malays introducing themselves by their race, Gan said that it does not make them less Malaysian.
“If a foreigner asks me whether I am a Chinese, I will say yes, as I am an ethnic Chinese. Just like if a Malay is asked if he is a Javanese or Bugis,” Gan said.
SALAM BUAT TUN BERDUA MOGA DIRAHMATI ALLAH S.W.T
1) KERAJAAN ASAL ISLAM IALAH PIMPINAN RASULLULLAH S.A.W YANG AKHIRNYA MENINGGAL TAMPA KEKAYAAN MILIK SENDIRI DI DUNIA YANG SEMUANYA DI GUNAKAN KEJALAN AGAMA ISLAM. MAKSUDNYA BAGINDA SENTIASA MEMBERI. PEMIMPIN BEGINI YANG DIPILIH AKAN MENGUNTUNGKAN RAKYATNYA KERANA HARTA KEPADA RAKYAT MISKIN DAN YANG MENJALANKAN AGAMA ISLAM DIJANJIKAN LEBIH GANJARAN DISYURGA.
2) MASAALAHNYA PEMIMPIN BEGINI AMAT SUSAH KITA DAPATI PADA ZAMAN SEKARANG TERUTAMA YANG LAHIR DARI SISTEM DEMOKRASI YANG DIPAKAI SEKARANG. 'DEMOKRASI'INI JUGA BOLEH TERJUAL OLEH HARTA DUNIA.
3) BERTUKAR PEMIMPIN PUN TIDAK DAPAT PENYELESAIAN SELAGI PEMIMPIN YANG DIPILIH TIDAK MENCONTOHI RASULLULLAH S.A.W. MALAH KELEBIHAN YANG ADA BILA MENJADI PEMIMPIN AKAN MENJADI SATU PEREBUTAN. SEBAB ADA CONTOH SEORANG YANG MISKIN BOLEH BERTUKAR MENJADI KAYA RAYA BILA MENJADI PEMIMPIN.
4) NABI MUHAMMAD S.A.W MEMBERI CONTOH BELIAU TIDAK MENGGUNAKAN KUASA DI DUNIA YANG DIMILIKI UNTUK MENGKAYAKAN DIRI. NEGARA SEPERTI MESIR YANG KETIKA MENGALAMI MASAALAH EKONOMI BERLAKU KEPADA RAKYAT TETAPI TIDAK KEPADA PEMIMPINNYA YANG BERHARTA(SETELAH MEMIMPIN LEBIH 30 TAHUN).
5) KITA KENAL NABI MUHAMMAD S.A.W SEORANG LELAKI YANG PERNAH BERKATA KEPADA ISTERI-ISTERINYA SAMA ADA MEMILIHNYA KERANA AJARAN AMALANNYA ATAU PUN HARTA DUNIA. KITA BOLEH KENAL BAGAIMANA SIFAT YANG ADA PADA DIRI NABI S.A.W YANG PERLU ADA PADA CIRI-CIRI PEMIMPIN YANG KITA CARI-CARI SEKARANG.
6) KALAU KITA TAHU SUSAHNYA MENCARI PEMIMPIN BEGINI SEKARANG KENAPA RAKYAT MASIH MAHU SEORANG PEMIMPIN DENGAN DIBERI KUASA MENTADBIR DIRI KITA ?
7) ADA YANG SUDAH PANDAI MENGGUNAKAN HADIS BAHAWA MANUSIA PERLUKAN KEPADA PEMIMPIN SEDANGKAN TIADA LAGI YANG LAYAK. KEMBALILAH KITA KEPADA AL-QURAN YANG MELETAKKAN NABI MUHAMMAD S.A.W SEBAGAI PEMIMPIN AKHIR KITA DAN ALLAH S.W.T YANG DI SEMBAH.
WALLAHU'ALAM
Assalamualaikum Tun, I just like to comment on the aspect raise in number 13.
It doesnt mean that when we r weak, we could not be improved or developed. If the prophet could do it, why cant we? We cant because we have derailed from the line as laid down by him saw.. N another reason is that we do not really believe - yakin - in Islamic ways of life. In fact, Islamic ways is considered at par with other ways of life as propounded in Hinduism, Confucianism, and more recently, the modern mood of life.

The Arab world is facing a massive revolution. The leaders will one by one be forced to leave. This is the beginning of what of something much bigger to occur.
We are in the year 2011. In the coming 11 years, many things will happen. Israel will be wiped out soon.
The history begins now.//
1-An interesting but frightening prediction. But if it comes true this world is going to be in a terrible mess.
2-Many people in the Middle East would have been blown to smithereens by the Israeli's nuclear bombs as they are not likely to let go without a fight. The USA would definitely be summoned by the boss to come in and help.
3-But yes,the true victory could only be achieve on the ground and the determined ,not afraid to die hardened Arab militants would probably claim that victory albeit, not so easily.
4-Oil prices would hit the sky.The USA's feeble economy would not be able to withstand this so she will crumble to the ground.Europe will repeat history and she will return to the Dark Ages.
5-But no sir,the Arabs would not emerge the new world power. The war would impoverish them badly. The oil fields would have been destroyed. Many good brains would have been killed.Even if they have anything superior to offer it would not be immediate.
6-They may need another maybe 50 years.First they must rebuild their cities and the infrastructures that have been totally destroyed by the nuclear bombs. They will definitely require foreign aid.
7-So the vacuum in the Global leadership could only be filled up immediately by China and India, the two most ready nations due to their great fundamentals and huge domestic markets.
8-Asia is all set to reclaim their glorious leadership of the 15th century.Like it or not history will be repeated.
9-But my prediction is one country in the strategic crossroads of Asia and the World, blessed with all the right human materials to link with the top three most populous nations of Asia would soon emerge as the new leader of a new world civilization.Malaysia, truly Asia.
10-For every crisis there is opportunity.Let us Malaysians start thinking big and prepare ourselves for a leadership task that may soon await us.We must be united to produce that awesome synergy afforded no one else.We must believe that we can change the world,am I right Tun?
Thanks Tun

If I remember correctly, after the fall of Saigon to the Vietcong Mr Lee Kuan Yew (the most outspoken asian leader at the time, definitely the darling of the western media then)was asked whether he (i.e Singapore)felt threatened by the Domino Effect. In response, he equated Singapore's fear (if any) to what the Americans felt with Cuba as a neighbour.
Nowadays, we are proud to note that the international media would rather print your words rather than LKY's 'clever' quips. Neither will those in the currently affected countries find LKY's statement amusing.
Enough is enough.
The governments must listen to his own people.
The oppressors'reign is over. It is the time for revolution.
One after another, we will see the change of goverments in Arab world.
The power of the masses are gaining strength and momentum.
11 years of uncertainties heading towards year 2022.
Assalamualaikum Tun.
Musim has been portrayed as arogan, terrorist, poor, over emotional, intolerance, over react, over sensitif. All this actually are not the teaching of Islam. But who? all this by certain ulama. Ulamas which only encourage people to focus on akhirat but not the world.
Tun
what is your personal opinion of Pres. Mubarak?
This is another example of where a leader exerts his absolute authority for a prolonged period with no sustainable succession plan.
And the country regardless of forced change OR transition in some slow suffering form, will decline and at the end, the people will suffer.
Leadership is not only about authority, it's about continuity.
I guess there are many leaders out there who rule in excess of 15 years and in all those cases, you can see nepotism, cronyism, poor leadership succession form.
I wonder if present day leaders will learn from the past (and not repeat the same ills. I guess that is only wishful thinking)

salam berbahagia Tun,
Buatlah baik sebanyak mana, mereka hanya nampak keburukan sahaja.
Sama seperti yang berlaku ketika era pemerintahan Tun. Sebanyak mana Tun hulurkan bantuan, sebanyak mana Tun berbuat kebaikan, mereka buta.
BN memenangi hampir keseluruhan kerusi parlimen. Hinggakan BN hampir-hampir dapat menawan kelantan.
http://mywordismythinking.blogspot.com/2011/02/inikah-islam-kamu-inikah-iman-kamu.html
Dear Ybhg Tun, asmkm
For a leader to govern, he must be clean at heart. It is not difficult for any muslim leader to be clean at heart by upholding the 6 beliefs and conduct the 5.
For a start, look at our friend Lee Kawan You, he thinks that by giving advice about Islam and Malaysia, he can be called moderate stinker. I mean, he thinks he is less nastier than the other person. Singapore does not need to change its government because they are economically stable eventhough many many of my friends, be it Chinese, Indians, or Malays there, are considered as poor. I pity them but at times, really, they need to learn living the hard way. Afterall, Singaporeans are Malaysians whose leaders mislead them to believe that they are not Malaysians. Singapore welfare benefits are capable of upholding mass grievances of the people. The same with England and US, even when they have experiencing bad economies, high unemployment and recession; they still manage the people with their welfare benefits.
But, many people, like local rep ADUN and MB think that they are 'leaders' who will champion the needs of thier jobs.
Malaysia do not need to change government because we are blessed with much natural resources and good governance people. Internally, for Malaysia, we are in dire needs to convert inviduals, many of them are traitors to their own ethic background, in the Opposition, to be repentance of their sins. Look at Guan Eng, he played a lot of black magic in Penang, that caused many many residents to vote him as champion. We cannot blame Guan Eng though, for all his misdemeanors since becoming YB Penang but the people, whose hearts are all for Guan Eng. They have to pay the price for their own misdeed and hope in the next general election they will repent for the better. As for Guan Eng, in the next general election, let's pray that he die faster with heart attack for creating disharmony amongst Malay, Indian, and Chinese. This is the same prayer for all other ADUN and MB whose heart is full of jests. I am not saying, god willing, Lee Kawan You converts to Islam, become a muslim, many many people in Singapore will die of heart attack.
If he doesn't, senility will catch up on him. My neighbor told me Lee is immortal because his body is full of spice, like the mummy, the same with Guan Eng.
In Egypt, those who actually voted for Hosni in last general election, should wait for the next general election to oust him. The people cannot practise terrorism by throwing him out on street demonstration. This is dangerous, we are not Thailand or Philippines where demonstration is part of their culture, already
ingrained in their blood and control, for generations. We cannot do this for Guan Eng simply because the people never have this kind of culture and it is dangerous if it happens in Penang. We can only apply DC, damage control transformation.
A friend who studied in Europe found out that Malaysia Sosio Politic is taught by lecturers / professors in their Universities as part of master degree programme. As Malaysia is the only country of this nature, they are not able to draw line of comparison, to predict the future. We are one of a kind in the world, so our Chinese, Indian and Malay, keep it that way in harmony. What we need to do is to DC our own traitors in each of our ethnic group.
As long as Malaysia benchmark itself against its own history, it will survive the changing world.
Ybhg Tun, terimakasih.
Dr M,
Are you not ashamed that many born and educated in Malaysia under your long tenure as Education Minister and PM speak (and write) such bad English? Many of the comments herein are not even primary school level of English!!
Don't you take responsibility for such a sorry state of the English language amongst a whole generation of Malaysian under your charge?
Dear Tun,
What was happening to Egypt & Tunisia could also happen to Malaysia either. People will turn to revolt if our bread & butter do not taken care of, economic distributions are not equally distributed & corruption index sky high. When inflation rate high, the price of goods will sky rocketed, it will eventually reduce people buying power. When these things happen & government failed to overcome its, people will lose their temper & eventually opted to revolt as we have seen in Egypt & Tunisia.
So far, I see no sign of such things could happen to Malaysia, since the key facts as I pointed out above remain intact. Unless, our nation under enormous state of deception as what happen in 1998.
Assallammualaikumwarahamtullahiwabarokatuh..
Semoga mendapat keizinan Tun.
[[sivarajah arasu
Sir,Power corrupts!!!......you know and are terribly guilty of it.At the rate things are going here in Malaysia,we can forsee such a thing happening here in the next 10 years]]
First and foremost I must say I am sorry the way I reacted to your writing. But I stand by my principal about giving equal measures about responses..
I did not agrees with you sir about the concept that power corrupts.Actually like what ekompute was saying,it is just an excuse.True the tempation is strong but one strong will and mental faculty will see us through..
[[What the people know is exactaly what they dont want.they may not know what they want(as you say) but after they have reached a stage as in Egypt and Tunisia, any change has to be better than the previous regimes]]
There is an excuse about high rate employment and other's.But I see it through the pain and anguish of the palestinian about the Israel Hand factor. The details is in my chopped up comment in Israel Hand response towards ekompute...:)
[[Leave them long enogh in power and then the rot starts,as in Malaysia. So there is wisdom in countries like USA where terms are limited so as not to have this absolute power corruption]]
True sir to certain extent. But what does happens is the Malay is never truly the people of "Darah Perwira" or "Darah Satria".When Jebat see the wrongdoing of Sultan,he acted up and "menderhaka".This is a taboo to Malay and instead of helping Jebat, they sided with "the wrongdoing" of Sultan and this happened even to Tun.
In Islam,we must respect Tun as an elderly. He was chosen Islam first before we do.This fact all have been forgotten when Tun acted against "Sultan" at that time.He suffer's many anguish moment and the malay in power practically deserted him..
Those rampage you mentioned will not happened as long the Malay remains cowards and not practice Islam fully.I have mentioned above "idealism" concept.Maybe my chopped up comment will appears
says..next year?...:)
Thank you sir.
Terima kasih Tun.
Domino effect?..... Entahlah.....
I dont blame saudara nadzri, because there are many nadzris are blind folded in malaysia.
Talking so much on arab countries, palestine issues, middle east policy,Israel and etc.
What about our own malay issue in southern thailand! Many may claim sri vijaya, king chola were the pioneers who ruled malay penisula, and sort but do you all know, the malay kingdom already existed in A.D 2.Pattani kingdom was very popular than.Narathiwat and yala were part of the kingdom. Even malacca sultans married the princes of Pattani. This is history! The beautiful kingdom was invaded, the malays lost their identity.Today they are called Thai muslims not Thai malays. They are treated as second class citizens in their own land.
This is happening in front of our own eyes, but we are closing our eyes, pretending as though nothing is happening, citing Asean and non interference and etc!Only our Tun pleaded for them and asked for autonomy, but non of our leaders supported him including opposition malay leaders, instead shedding crocodile tears for palestinians!
stop the hypocrisy!

Personally, I would not think that the development status of the countries very much related to the type of religion that the countries practices solely. Although there are some interactions or decisions made based on the Islamic teachings and interpretations of it, but how one country develop or under develop is largely due to its people itself, and how its people governed the countries.
The uproars in Tunisia and now Egypt is like what Tun have mentioned, is due to the dissatisfaction of its people in finding a decent living and perhaps have found themselves way backwards in living standards as their neighboring countries or their european counterparts.
When the people of the country have a decent living, fair trading, rid of corruption, and a good and professional government, then only would the country be competitive and can move forward.
Tun's various cautions in this issue should be taken seriously by the government of the day. It cannot just be carrying on with what it does merely just to ensure that it would stay in power for another term . It need to change from within starting with having more credible and professional candidates and members of parliament. Folks in parliament should be able to think and argue professionally for their constituencies and should not behave like ordinary folks, because they are not ordinary folks. They are the government. Progress or not of the government is very much dependent on them, and Rakyat's satisfaction about the government or not is also due the results of the decision made in parliament.
Malaysia should not take this citizen's uprising in these countries as yet another story in the news. If the folks in these 3rd.world countries could react in such as a way to overthrow the country, what makes us so sure that we will be proofed from such civil actions?
Malaysians generally are not ready yet to embrace analytical and forward thinking ideas. They are still very much in the 3rd.world mentality status. Where street protest, and mobsters demonstrations rules.
So the government of the day need to quickly address this issue and start looking into its team, and discard those incumbents and unprofessional MPs that are merely there to make up the numbers and perhaps some ruckus to drown out the oppositions. Anymore than that, they are just merely followers. Not leaders, I am afraid.
Salam bahagia Tun.
islam is beautiful but we have to admit it is muslims' own doing that islam is misinterpreted as violent. i do not believe muslims are responsible for all the things that westeners accused them of but on the other hand I too do not believe muslims are non violent.
many muslims do tend to act violently that give the opportunity for people to accuse and label all muslims as terrorist and islam as violent.
anyone wld probably fight if threatened or provoked but muslims seem to be very sensitive and react more promptly with aggression. we think that by showing our power and aggression people will fear us but actually people are using this weakness to lure us into being angry and then it will be easier to win over us. when angry we will fight and fight and not think how to fight.
do not be easily angry if muslims ever want to triumph. not only fight with fist or guns but do use other means such as strategies and tactics, strengthen economic advantage, obtain more knowledge, build reputation as peaceful people to be respected.
Salam Tun,
On Governments
---------------------
It is extremely difficult for one who obtains the status of a leader or governer, by democratic means or by power manipulation or by wealth, to retain the real aim of leadership or governance. This is because as one climbs higher there is better view and one is unlikely to go down to the hot humid areas of the daily workers.
When small ideas and good concepts are incubated in these small puddles of population, they normally just dissappear or vaourize as they move upwarss because governments always want nice looking proposal, with nice promises. However, the fact of life is that real needs comes from modest and poor homes. Neccessity is the mother of invention.
I see no way of for modern governments to be able to understand what the people want and how best to get it. Why, the governers themselves do not have the same needs of the people ! How could they then ever represent the people correctly and accurately ?
Hardly do i see any good debate on any significant social projects in Malaysia. I am pleased to see on Astro Awani, where figures now appear and talk openly. For example, one lady described how it is that one requires to apply to over 20 separate authoritative bodies to get obtain a simple bus service permit. Absolutely ridiculous, but is true. ANd for mahy other types of applications. All the IT in the world is no good when the administration is spread so thinly that no once can and wants to decide. Semua takut.
Hardly any brave decision can be made.
During your tenure as PM, you were brave in following through large projects such as Proton, PNB, MSC, Twin Towers and such. Without these, we would really have nothing much other than palm oil, tin, rubber and alien factories.
It is my wish that the present government and any government can continue this trend of brave calculated decisions to make progress. It does not matter if the some of the peope do not support mega projects. If they do not want real solid progress, because they are unable to participate or have no desire to excel, then perhaps we should let it not be the reason to stop or slow down.
--------
On the trends in Arab countries, i believe they have long ago realised now they can no longer remain with the pyramids of time.
The trends in science and technology is such that if they still hold on to ancient beliefs and heavenly promises, they will miss out a lot on a freer life and world. And this they no longer want. Nobody wants to be 'over ruled'.
They do not want western rule. They do not want their own dictator rule too. I guess what they want is a good organisor of progress, not a govenrment who tells them what to think and what to do or not to do with their private lives, or who / which party to vote for.
That Tun is my observation, maybe call it a hypothesis.
So what people want is perhaps an organisor, not a government as we know it. The days of governments are numbered. Of course it will still be called a government, but functionally modern governments must act more as organisors rather than governments.
In this new age, goverment functions are more localised. Who cares who governs anymore ? Does it mater who is the Mentri Besar, Mentri itu, Mentri ini, Datuk itu, Datuk ini ?
So long as progress is delivered efficiently, not just mere talks and forming committees, there is no need for titles. The word "ahli jawatankuasa" is just some kind of status symbol, not a real service oriented, people driven, task force.
I sat down with some young chaps in their early 20's who worked very hard doing their own business to save money for their own life and future. I asked them, "why do you work so hard, when others like you blame the government for not providing jobs". They replied me without hesiation, "so that we have the freedom to vote for the government we want".
My salute to these younger generation, the IT savvy, sufficiently educated generation, who no longer even switch on, much less listen, to the prime media. Prime media today is only good for offical count of victims, of whatever natural disaster.
I just do not see how some political parties are able to "get through" to these people when they have old and inhibited ministers in their closet ?
Thank You, Tun.
Salam Ybhg Tun,
Kong Hi Fatt Choy to those who celebrates.
High unemployment rate is the most influential cause for the people to change the government. Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen and few other countries are classic examples on this issue.
Maybe we want to look back at Kelantan. In my opinion, if the people of Kelantan has the rights on the oil/gas royalty, just give it to them. Overtime, the people of Kelantan will appreciate the justification and later they will have different views on the better government, just be patience. Currently, there are not many jobs available. Maybe when they have enough money, many jobs opportunity will be available.
Sorry for any grammar error. I'm not English.
Good morning Ayahanda Tun,

Budget to transform Singapore economy: PM Lee
By Zakir Hussain
'It's an essential service - the rest of us are enjoying the festival, and being with our families, but they're working hard, keeping Singapore clean, keeping our systems going,' Mr Lee said of his visit. -- PHOTO: SPH
THE upcoming Budget will continue to emphasise growing and transforming the Singapore economy and enabling all Singaporeans to have the skills and ability to do better for themselves, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Thursday.
'Especially at the lower end, if we want to uplift people, the best way is to uplift their skills and redesign their jobs and improve what workers are able to do,' he added.
Mr Lee was speaking to reporters at the Bukit Merah depot of waste management company SembWaste on the first day of the Chinese New Year, when he traditionally visits workers who perform essential duties to thank them for keeping Singapore going when most people are busy celebrating.
On Thursday, he presented hongbao and mandarin oranges to some 200 waste collection truck drivers, crew and maintenance workers, tossed yu sheng and spent over an hour chatting with them.
'It's an essential service - the rest of us are enjoying the festival, and being with our families, but they're working hard, keeping Singapore clean, keeping our systems going,' he said of his visit.
The Government's Budget for the coming financial year will be delivered in Parliament by Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Feb 18. Measures to help Singaporeans - especially low-income families - cope with the rising cost of living are expected to be a dominant feature of the Budget.

How the Chinese rabbit became a cat in Vietnam
Festive lunar Year of the Cat statues are displayed for sale on a street in Hanoi. -- PHOTO: REUTERS
HANOI - WHILE much of Asia celebrates the Year of the Rabbit, Vietnam is striking a note of independence from the dominance of Chinese culture and marking the beginning of the Year of the Cat.
The two communist countries remain ideological allies and have endorsed a similar transition to a market-oriented economy.
But their relationship evokes strong emotions and contradictions in Vietnam, where many bitterly recall 1,000 years of Chinese occupation and, more recently, a 1979 border war.
While the smaller nation has held onto many Chinese words, customs and traditions, it still feels a strong need to set itself apart from its giant neighbour.
The two countries share 10 of the zodiac calendar's 12 signs- the rat, tiger, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. But the Vietnamese replace the rabbit with the cat and the ox with the buffalo.
Exactly why they opted for different animals remains unclear, but several scholars say the split can be traced back to the founding legends of the zodiac calendar. -- AFP

US wishes happy 'Year of the Rabbit'
'As people of all cultures and faiths welcome in the new year, let all of us celebrate our families and our ancestors, and enjoy the company of our loved ones,' Mr Obama said. -- PHOTO: AP
WASHINGTON - PRESIDENT Barack Obama sent best wishes for the Lunar New Year that kicks off on Thursday, as revellers across the United States and around the world prepared to usher in the 'Year of the Rabbit.'
'As people of all cultures and faiths welcome in the new year, let all of us celebrate our families and our ancestors, and enjoy the company of our loved ones,' Mr Obama said in a statement, noting many Americans were celebrating the new Chinese calendar with festivities.
'Many Americans of Asian descent will carry on the rich traditions of their heritage, reminding us again that America's strength comes from the richness of our cultures and the diversity of our people.
'I wish all who celebrate the new year peace, prosperity and good health,' he added.
In the Chinese zodiac, the rabbit is fourth in a cycle of 12 animals that represent each Chinese New Year, with the Year of the Rabbit falling February 3, 2011 to January 22, 2012.
America's top diplomat Hillary Clinton urged revelers to 'continue to work together in this New Year to deepen our friendships and make progress on the challenges we all face.' 'President Obama and I are committed to the people of the Asia-Pacific region - committed to strengthening our ties with traditional allies, to making new friends and working to forge constructive relationships throughout the region,' she added, noting the significant contributions of Asian-Americans. -- AFP

Egypt crisis: Students recall anxious moments
The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has called on mosques congregations nationwide to perform "solat hajat" (prayer of need) Thursday and after Friday prayers for the safety of Malaysians in Egypt.
SEPANG: Nazeera Mohd Nasir, 21, a student at the University of Mansoura, was sleeping in her room the night the crisis erupted in Egypt when she was awakened by an announcement from a nearby mosque.
There was urgency in the manner the announcement was relayed, telling the residents nearby to switch off their lights and secure their doors because inmates from a nearby prison had escaped and were roaming the streets.
"We were very scared. At night we couldn't sleep because we kept on hearing the sound of glasses being shattered, of tanks moving about and of gunshots being fired," she told Bernama at the KL International Airport on her arrival from Cairo.
Nazeera, a third year medical student, who arrived here with her friend, Nurul Shafiqah Mohd Tajudin, 21, at 10pm last night, was among the few who were lucky to get a flight out of Cairo.
They said their rented house in Mansoura was located near the crisis area.
Three days ago they decided to rent a car, which took them to the Cairo international airport, only to find that the airport was already congested with people trying to flee the strife-torn country.
Although they had bought tickets, they were unable to take a flight out, they said.
"It was a tense situation at the terminal with people rushing to board the planes," Nazeera said, adding that they had to buy other tickets using their credit cards.
Nurul Shafiqah said there were about 200 Malaysian students stranded at the airport, with many of them having run out of money.
"We stayed at the airport and slept on the floor ... there were people crying because they had been stranded at the airport for four days already.
"We had to ration whatever food that we had, like some biscuits and mineral water. We were unable to withdraw money and the bread and drinks sold at the airport were very expensive," she said.
They later took an Emirates flight to return home.
Nor Akhbariah Md Najas, 20, a first year medical student at University of Tanta, said the situation in Tanta was not as bad but they adhered to the curfew.
"Each day there were houses being broken into," said Nor Akhbariah, who was met at the airport by her mother Jamaliah Mohd Salleh, 57.
Meanwhile in Putrajaya, The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has called on the congregation at all mosques nationwide to perform "solat hajat" (prayer of need) Thursday and after Friday prayers tomorrow for the safety of Malaysians in Egypt.
Jakim director-general Datuk Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz said it was also to pray for an end to the current political unrest in Egypt, which began at the end of last month as protestors rallied against President Hosni Mubarak, urging him to step down. - Bernama

Najib: Let Egyptian people decide
By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani February 03, 2011
Najib said foreign nations should not intervene in the Egyptian crisis. — File pic
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak called for an end to the bloodshed in Egypt and stressed the importance for its people to decide the future of their country.
However, the prime minister fell short of calling for Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s resignation.
“We (Malaysian government) want both sides to not resort to any form of violence and there not be any casualties as the people only want to show where they stand regarding the leadership of the Egyptian government.
“In a democratic system, we must prioritise the people and that is why any solution in Egypt must be based on demands and wants of the people to determine the future of their government,” he told reporters after a Chinese New Year party.
He also said foreign nations should not intervene in the popular revolt.
The Egyptian uprising broke out last week due to public frustration with corruption, oppression and economic hardship under Mubarak’s 30-year reign. It has been reported that at least 140 protesters have been killed in demonstrations across the country.
Earlier today, it was reported that Mubarak supporters opened fire on protesters camped in Cairo’s Tahrir Square.
The protests are part of the regional uprising inspired by the popular revolt in Tunisia which overthrew President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali last month.
Najib said the regional uprising should be a lesson to world leaders that in the era of globalisation, the voice of the people should not be ignored.
An informal coalition of political parties and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will march to the US Embassy tomorrow to show solidarity with the Egyptians in their struggle for freedom and democracy.
The coalition, led by Pakatan Rakyat, expects more than 10,000 people to gather to urge the US government to intervene and join the call for Mubarak’s resignation.
Good day Ayahanda Tun.
Dear Tun
I'm wondering why is it so difficult for us Muslim to accept and understand that this world and era that we are living now demand from us a lot of cash to feed our basic needs. If we are to make sure that all the Muslims in the world have enough cash in their pocket and their bank accounts we would need trillion and trillions of US Dollars so that they will have enough cash to feed their families. If let say a Muslim decided to live their life very moderately, meaning to live only by praying and praising god without any productivity to get income in their pocket for their basic or important needs.
As we know, even the monks in the France have a job to work at the winery farm. So does the monks in the Buddha temples making artifact and paintings to be sold at the nearest tourist shop. If we take a close look and sum up all their productions we would come up with a very high figure reaching billions of dollars. Thus the monies would be used to proper their church or temples.
Look now, I'm not saying that our Imams, Bilals and Tok Siaks must refine wine nor paint pictures. But I'm just saying that they should do more than only preach and teach Islam to all their followers. They should also contribute in making the Muslim society to spend more affordable by either making them work harder or giving them more Muslim ideas to enrich their lives. Do not give the followers any kind of false hope that this government is better than that government or speeches that condemn good ideas just because they don't like the leaders. They should not create mental blocks and high walls, making the followers perceived that success is impossible, thus the government must be blamed for their failures. Remember, as I said before, in Rome, the Vatican have their own funds that they have kept for hundreds of years for any members of the church who have trouble keeping their afloat. If the company is good the Vatican's will buy part of that company. The Vatican's have their own management arms, accounting arms, executives and others professional people at the Vatican's disbursement.
You see, Dr Tun, in our troubled nation we must not let the people be lead by false leader. It's like taking a neurosurgeon to fix our teeth, it will not work, the neurosurgeon does not know how to fill our teeth or operate a gum problem.
In my opinion, it's time for the religious leaders to pick up a calculator and start counting for the followers how much they must earn to make a better living if not just enough for them feed their Muslim families. Even better if they could come up with good infrastructure for the Muslim community in the business world. Maybe....maybe our Ustazs and Ustazahs can teach our children to do mathematics, accounting s and sciences in Arab language and practically do it in real life. Maybe we can export our children to work with best finance institution in the Arab World with high profile jobs. They will be paid very handsomely for sure. So we now know that the Arab language that we teach in our schools is not only a medium for The Quran and The Hadith but it is also a tool for earning income in their future.
If we study carefully about this Domino Effect that have turn the Arab World to Re-Democracy their government we will learn that most of the Muslim countries are unable to cope with the dramatic increases in world food prices, creating a global crisis and causing political and economical instability. Thus the people have nobody to blame but the existing government.
Be advised (Including myself) , that unless we can help other Muslims to have more income and own more wealth. We can stop
the Muslim countries from toppling one after another. For example Mahir Zain is a breakthrough for the Muslims music industry.
So, I will end my comment by writing to you part of the song;
.....INS YA-ALLAH....INS YA-ALLAH....INS YA-ALLAH....
"...it is worthwhile to remember that change is not always for the better. Power corrupts as we all know." - sounds familiar with Malaysia.
Here the domino would tumble (not neccessarily in such order):
Sarawak - cronies control state resources; oppose if you dare if not politically killed; no one yet capable to take over; overstayed his welcome.
Melaka - corrupt but why keep him as CM?
Selangor - much screwed up - MB is puppet on the strings; Mat Broom kissed his mother's hand and take all; Mike Tyson jet set with money bags
Terengganu - projects childish, bankcrupt soon, dumbest governance ever
N.S. - 10million ringgit man play money changer
Kelantan - nutty guru blinded by his sarban
In essence we are not far off from the domino effect - Sudan, Tunisia, Jordan, Yemen, Egypt, Albania, Afghanistan, Pakistan ...
Assalamualaikum Tun..Saya sentiasa mendoakan agar Tun dan Tun Dr Hasmah sihat selalu. We all still and will always need you.
This is just another one of your many sincers comments on what countries especially Islamic Countries should have done and it is still not too late to do.
If only leaders of countries especially Muslim countries, Malaysia is not optonal, understand that they are leaders because they were either elected or otherwise by the people, thus thier main function is to serve the people who voted or put them there by what ever means and not use the election or otherwise so they can be there and then only or prioritily work towards making themselves either richer or more powerfull.
It has be reiterated in the Muslim civilization that the great leaders are leaders that always remember where they come from and the reason for being called leaders.
I sincerely hope there are leaders especially leaders of the Muslim nation read and understand your message thus practicing it towards becoming great and respected Muslim nation.
Just a note, I wonder how many of our local leaders read your notes, personally I would say they are loosing alot.
Thanks again Tun.
May you and Tu Dr Hasmah be in good health always.
Wassalam.
Dear Tun and Readers...
Happy New Year... As time pass by, we grow... after 1 year, we look back if we were still at the same place. if we were... then there is no progress... if we were not then check if we were in a better position or worse. for better or worse... we need to do something about it. So... Let us make today a better day...!

1-The Arabs had contributed to Islam and the world 1400 years ago and that no one can deny. But nowadays through their mostly negative behaviors in their retaliating the injustices inflicted upon them they bring only more harm.
2-So in regards this revolution I wander if it can do any good to the Egyptians?
3-The USA would support the 'peoples power' for as long as the foreign policy is unchanged. But if they threaten to annul all their existing treaties with Israel then I am not too sure if the USA would still be loving democracy.
4-The Arabs have no one to blame but themselves to come into this very sorry situation. All Muslims are supposed to be one Ummah. They are all brothers in their subservience to the Almighty.
5-The only way to redeem their dignity is to unite as one nation again as they had been before prior to The World War 1 when they were all ruled by the European Ottoman.Unless they are able to merge into one Arab Nation again they will not be going anywhere very far from where they are already now.
6-The Egyptians might just as well sit back and enjoy the revolution experience while it last. This turmoil is going to cost them a bomb, but lets hope its going to worth them every single cent..
7-To all Chinese bloggers Zhu ni men Xin Nian Kuai le he Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy holidays to all the rest.Safe driving balik kampong.Don't worry be happy.
Thanks Tun.
Dearest YAB Tun,
1. I agree with Tun’s statement: “change is not always for the better.” We need to know exactly what we really want. We must not change the government just for the sake of changing it, because we might not be able to reverse the effect if things turn out to be worse than before. In Malaysia we can still live comfortably compared to those in other countries (if we work hard). Of course “rumput di seberang nampak lebih hijau…”
2. Yes, it is a sad reality that no Muslim country is classified as developed, but I believe Malaysia will be the first (soon). To gain respect from others we have to be strong and rich.
“Selamat Menyambut Tahun Baru Cina” kepada yang meraikannya. Saya bangga menjadi rakyat Malaysia yang aman damai.
Thanks Tun.
** May Allah SWT bless Tun & family **
Tun,
Saya akur seratus-peratus dengan pandangan Tun seperti di atas, khususnya pengakuan Tun bahawa ‘I feel sad that not a single Muslim country is classified as developed’.
Adakah kedaifan & kelemahan orang Melayu di Malaysia dalam serba aspek sosial, ekonomi, undang2, penagihan, maksiat, sumbang mahram, pedofilia dsbnya kerana terjemahan Tun, yakni, “There will be some Muslims who will say that being developed is not important to Islam. What is important is to be Islamic according to their interpretation of the teachings of Islam”?
Walau apapun, mengapakah kemunduran orang Melayu di Malaysia dipersalahkan kerana kegiatan dan kewujudan orang bukan Melayu, wal hal semuanya gara-gara kerenah kaum Melayu & agama Islam?
Salam,
LJ
Assalamualaikum Tun,
Selamat Tahun Baru Cina!
InsyaAllah....
The Arab world is facing a massive revolution. The leaders will one by one be forced to leave. This is the beginning of what of something much bigger to occur.
We are in the year 2011. In the coming 11 years, many things will happen. Israel will be wiped out soon.
The history begins now.
Salam Tun,
Malaysia has been lucky to have a leader like you. In fact Malaysians should be thankful to BN for all what we have now was not falling from the sky. But it was a careful effort by you and other leaders.
Those jeolous people is always in denial of your achievements. What they see is just on the physical things - like how Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, F1, Twin Towers are doing blah blah blah. These people will see the half empty glass than half full glass. Period.
The harmony life we have in Malaysia is actually your main achievement to me. I dont see what is happening in Mesir will happen in Malaysia. Because in actual fact 'everyone is happy' here in Malaysia. The oppositions have won in some states and BN has done their best to deliver what they have promised. We can go to work, come back safely. We can eat all day. We can go holiday in Langkawi. We can....do a lot of things.
Politic to me besides about power, it is also about serving people. Who serves their people better, will win their people heart.
Thank you again Tun Mahathir.
Salam Tun.
Macam mana kita nak maju kalau kita terpaksa tanggung beban sebegini. BN perlu bekerja keras untuk tukar minda pengundi untuk menerima kemajuan. Jangan biarkan mereka terus hanyut dibuai mimpi pakatan syaitan. Sesungguhnya kemiskinan membawa kekufuran.
You had 22 years. What did you do with it? You were all the time promoting and protecting the country from being Sinoised. You then UMNOised the civil service and other institutions and what have they become today?
We have a dinasaur of a civil service which bleeds the nations coffer yet give very little in return. Corruption has become endemic and what kind of institutions do we have today.
Going by what you have been saying, many are saying that you are afraid of your own shadow but I chose to believe that you are still afraid that the Malays may lose their home, Malaya/Malaysia.
But the fact is that there is no such race as a Malay race except defined by you in the constitution and even then, that may well be illegal.
As for your fear of a Sinoised Malaysia, a marginalized Chinese population may well make your fear come true within 50 years, maybe even in a shorter time and leave no place for pseudo Malays like you and your ilks.
By what you have been saying, are you challenging us to embark on Sino-ising Malaysia? Do yourself and us Malaysians a favour. Promote racial harmony and don't derail Malaysia's prospect of a successful nation shared by all, pseudo malays like you and your descendants included.
Not forgetting the millions of immigrants allowed in to swell the no. of Bumiputras. All your political gamesmanship are flawed. Very flawed and you have cause a lost of a whole generation. Don't fight a war that is not there.
Tun, I have great respect for your views. It's true the future of our country is in the people's hands. Therefore we have to be very careful to vote for a government who will steer us to greater heights.
Assalamualaikum.
Benar sungguh apa YAB Tun sarankan.
Salam YB Tun Mahathir,
Yes. Very much agree with this article. Insya-ALlah good governance will be achieved after this regrettable event. Everything can be summed-up into 1 word. Education. As long as Muslims continue to upgrade themselves, we'll be on track to achieve better international standing and recognition. Our cause is never about materialistic ends but means towards achieving ALlah's gratitude. :)
Yes Tun Dr Mahathir, position normally changes a person, more so if the position carries with it more influence economically and politically. To ensure that any leader is not "changed" by his position, one should note the fact that in the era of caliphs, the Khulafa ur Rasyidin, RA, they do have differences in opinions and they always look to the Al Quraan and the sayings of Nabi Muhammad SAW. They are fully aware and undoubtedly accept that both the Al Quraan and Hadist, are complete references for all worldly matters, the path which any one would need to take before embarking on alam barzakh and the akhirat.
One needs to know that the real enemy is indeed the Syaiton, who has since the creation of Adam AS, intended to derail all people from the path towards Allah SWT. The troops of Syaiton, takes the form of men, and many other forms, including the bad deeds within oneself.
No advancement of muslims nowadays or in future can take shape without the real understanding and application of al quraan and hadist. Ask ourselves, how many verses of al Quraan and hadist we read everyday? Do we really fear Allah as we claim ourselves to be? Do we use islam for political mileage? Do we read al Quraan only when we get ourselves into a mess?
Allah does not need us, but we need Allah. Allah has given us the Al quraan for us to read, study, apply in our daily activities. Allah has answered our at-least -17-time- a-day prayers "ih dinash shiratal mustaqiim", by giving us al Quraan. Do we really believe in al Quraan? We have been asking HIM for guidance, and HE has given us, but we choose not to read Al Quraan. We keep on performing prayers but we keep our bad habits of staying away from reading Al Quraan.
Let us prepare ourselves to face HIM anytime. The happenings in the Arab countries are also taking place elsewhere in the muslim and non muslim countries. The Syaiton and its troops are indeed most scared with the ummah who really strive hard to read, learn, apply al Quraan and Hadists. They know we will win, and they know we have always won.
The propaganda that is taking place in various media, so claimed in the form of "leaks" etc, should not at all provide a convenient avenue for Muslim to be influenced that the white lies are legitimate. There have been so many lies that one should not be worried of the accuracy of the histroy in the making as any history can be authored and propagated with different objectives.
We need to believe that Al Quraan and Hadist are the true guidances.
Mesti Baca! : Umat Islam Yang Lemau : Bende Kecik Pun Nak Bising-Bising
- Economic development should not be seen as nurturing and growth in an imaginary infant economic system but as recovery from stagnation in a mature economy brought to a low-welfare homeostasis under resource constraints that prevail in reality.
- Most developing economies have existed for centuries and millennia and can hardly qualify as nascent systems.
- There is little room for growth in them as their landscape is filled with obsolete infrastructure and unsuitable political and social institutions that create unequal entitlements and bar participation in the economic system for large cross-sections of potential entrepreneurs by limiting their civil liberties and freedoms.
- The quintessential economic development models addressing growth, structural transformation, productivity improvement, specialization and export etc., are therefore irrelevant to the mature economic systems on ground that have little room for growth unless some of their existing baggage is cleared. In this context, the developing country economies are similar to the industrialized economies coming to stagnation or recession as both represent manifestations of arrival at a low welfare homeostasis under resource constraints.
- Using a short life for the infrastructure yields a better distribution in the homeostasis in both Forrester’s and Schumpeter’s models. This also points to the fact that high durability of capital goods may lead to stagnation and deep recessions in the long run. Economic development policies should therefore include ways to discard old infrastructure in addition to encouraging new entrepreneurial activity. This principle must also be extended to the metaphysical context. Thus, institutional reform transforming currently unequal entitlements to equitable ones as suggested in Saeed (2009) and political reform transforming authoritarian governance systems to those committed to civil liberties and freedoms as suggested in Saeed (1990) should replace the current agendas that are not cognizant of the root causes of poverty and low welfare.
- Last, but not least, capital with short life also leads to a lower accumulation of the stock of capital, which might be environmentally friendly. Forrester has advocated reduction in population and capital stock for sustaining mankind in his World Development model (Forrester 1971). This proposition is borne out by the fact that medieval societies like the Native Americans have lived close to nature in sustainable equilibrium over an extended period of time with very little accumulation of man-made infrastructure while those vested in building durable infrastructure like the Mayas, the Egyptians and the Chinese have gone through dynastic cycles (Saeed and Pavlov 2008).
(from Khalid Saeed, Economic Development, 2010)
History teaches otherwise.Mahatma Gandhi started Ahimsa movement and chase the English out of India.Sadly Gandhism lasted only 15 years in India, today corruption is way of life in India.
The Iran revolution made the shah flee the country, again the revolution lost its philosophy after the leader died.
The Egyptians are some what lucky people could express opposition freely unlike people in Myanmar and Tibet or even the Pattani freedom fighters in Thailand.
Sounds like an Orwellian Animal Farm repeating itself all over again. Tun says, "But it is worthwhile to remember that change is not always for the better." True, true... but when daily living becomes unbearable, change is always worth considering.
Tun says: "There will be some Muslims who will say that being developed is not important to Islam. What is important is to be Islamic according to their interpretation of the teachings of Islam." So pray, tell me where do these Muslim countries rank in Transparency International's corruption perception index? Now, Islam never teaches one to be corrupted. On the contrary, it exhorts one to be scrupulously honest. And to me, this single fact alone is sufficient to absolve the religion and point the finger at its followers.
According to Transparency International's 2010 Corruption Perception Index, Qatar is the least corrupted Muslim country, beating even the United Kingdom and the United States. Singapore, on the other hand, is now No. 1, jointly with Denmark and New Zealand. Where then is Malaysia, a country that professes Islam to be its official religion?
When we hear commentators in this blog defending Islam and corruption in one breath, one begins to wonder what being Muslim is all about. To me, it is no different from defending Islam and the consumption of pork in one breath... nay, even worse because consumption of pork affects only oneself, while corruption ultimately impoverishes the whole society.
Tun says, "Corruption in the administration must be reduced." Islam, however, says that corruption must be totally eliminated. Even so, let's talk about reduction... reduce by half a percent is also reduced and who should give up so that others can continue? Or should all of them agree on a quota?
Allah has blessed many Islamic countries with petroleum. So why do Muslim countries still need to depend on aid from other countries? They should feel ashamed that a country with no resources like Singapore can beat them flat. Me thinks giving these countries diamond and gold mines would make no significant difference either.
No, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Islam. Ultimately, the people who hurt Islam the most are, in general, the Muslims themselves. They are the ones who give Islam a bad name and then they accuse others of doing so.
12. There will be some Muslims who will say that being developed is not important to Islam. What is important is to be Islamic according to their interpretation of the teachings of Islam.
KEMISKINAN MEMBAWA KEPADA KEKUFURAN.
By having the Petrol Dollar, The US Is controlling most of the turmoil countries with its strong influence in Saudi Arabia. The social integration via Internet, Blackberry, Satellite TV makes The Arabs realized and compared their lacking in developing their country by their corrupted leaders and corrupted Govt.
It is a pity, these things happened to the Muslim countries, as if Islam is not a good religion!!
Islam Is The Only Religion In The World Saying Brushing Teeth Will Give Us Pahala (Good Points) No Other Religion Stated That.
The Issue Here Is, The Muslim Do Not Wish To Brush Their Teeth!!!
As we know Tun. The opposition in our country will try to relate this to our country situation. They will say that it is time to raise as what happened in the middle east. But they never will highlight that those countries are the less successful in management country. They will never highlight countries like Arab Saudi or the UAE, where the people live in luxury, will revolt to change the government. Even though we know for sure how the US got hold of these countries. Nevertheless, the point is, our cheap opposition will use whatever cheap blow to score point. Good work on critising Nik Aziz Tun. Many people are waiting for that.
Sir,
Power corrupts!!!......you know and are terribly guilty of it.At the rate things are going here in Malaysia,we can forsee such a thing happening here in the next 10 years.
What the people know is exactaly what they dont want.they may not know what they want(as you say) but after they have reached a stage as in Egypt and Tunisia, any change has to be better than the previous regimes.Leave them long enogh in power and then the rot starts,as in Malaysia. So there is wisdom in countries like USA where terms are limited so as not to have this absolute power corruption.
Good morning Ayahanda Tun,

My hope for more Rabbit Year babies — Lee Hsien Loong
February 03, 2011
FEB 3 — Singapore’s economy roared in the Year of the Tiger. We pulled ourselves out of recession, and delivered an exceptional economic performance. Workers are enjoying better bonuses, and all over the island the mood is vibrant and joyous during this festive period.
The momentum is carrying into the Year of the Rabbit. Our prospects are good, boosted by robust growth in Asia and strong investment flows into Singapore. But we need to watch for risks that remain in the global economy, especially in the United States and Europe.
As our economy has picked up, property prices have risen significantly, especially over the past year. This partly reflects optimism and confidence in our economy, on the part of both Singaporeans and foreign investors. But it is also due to global monetary conditions: Interest rates are very low and liquidity abundant, so global funds are chasing higher-yielding assets in Asia. That is why other Asian cities like Hong Kong and Shanghai are also struggling to control property booms.
The government has acted to curb speculation and cool the property market. We will do more to stabilise the market if and when this becomes necessary. We will keep housing affordable to Singaporeans, especially public housing. At the same time, in a prospering economy home owners should see their properties appreciating in value over the long term.
Other external factors are pushing up consumer prices across Asia, including in Singapore. World oil prices have risen recently, leading to higher electricity, petrol and diesel prices. Floods and bad weather in several countries have disrupted crops, causing shortages and raising food prices. Locally, Certificate of Entitlement prices have gone up, because fewer COEs are available for auction, while with rising incomes more people want to buy cars. For these reasons, we expect somewhat higher inflation over the next few months, but we hope prices will stabilise later in the year.
The government will strive to mitigate the impact of rising prices. The strong Singapore dollar has lowered the cost of imported goods in Singapore dollar terms. And after a good year last year, the government has more scope to implement schemes to help Singaporeans cope with rising costs, especially lower-income households.
Singapore is small and open to the world. Each time external conditions change, it affects us. But we have learnt to take this in our stride. We know that we have to stay open, in order to seize opportunities and prosper. The price we pay is that we must keep changing and reinventing ourselves. This we have done successfully. Over the last few years, we have transformed our cityscape, with a spectacular skyline at Marina Bay, new and beautiful housing estates, and park connectors and waters all over the island.
Our society is changing too. Young people today have different attitudes and aspirations from earlier generations. And our population has been augmented with a good number of new immigrants.
Some Singaporeans are concerned about the rapid changes in our society, and feel a sense of dislocation and unfamiliarity. We will manage the pace of change, so that we keep our bearings, sense of place, and sense of belonging. But we cannot stay static. Singapore has to keep up with the world, or else we will stagnate and decline.
Even as we change, we must hold fast to certain constants: the core values which help Singapore to succeed; the heritage and cultures which make us Asian and Singaporean; and the national cohesion and spirit which enable us to surmount crises together. This means we have to preserve a Singaporean core in our society. We need immigrants to reinforce our ranks, but we must maintain a clear majority of local-born Singaporeans who set the tone of our society, and uphold our core values and ethos. We are managing the inflow of foreigners who want to live and work here. Many want to become permanent residents and new citizens, but we will only select those who can add value to Singapore.
We also need Singaporeans to produce enough babies to replace ourselves, and that has proved extremely challenging. Last year, our Total Fertility Rate fell to 1.16, an all-time low. It was even lower for the Chinese — only 1.02, but the decline was for all races. It could have been because of the Year of the Tiger, or perhaps the economic uncertainties the year before, in 2009. Whatever the reasons, I hope more couples will start or add to their families in the Year of the Rabbit. Chinese New Year is the time for families to come together in celebration, and more babies can only mean more joy in the years to come.
We must also keep our mother tongues alive, for language is a key vehicle for transmitting values and culture. Our bilingual education policy has helped to make us a global city and yet kept us an Asian society. We regularly update and improve the teaching of mother tongue languages in our schools, to keep it current and effective. Hence the recent measures announced by the Ministry of Education, which will help a new generation to use their mother tongue languages freely in a changing language environment.
The community has to play an active role keeping our culture and heritage vibrant. I am encouraged that organisations like the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) and Business China are working to promote the use of the Chinese language, preserve traditional culture and develop an appreciation and love for our heritage. I am also glad that we are celebrating Chinese New Year in refreshing and fun ways, for example by making the “River Hongbao” show more interesting and spectacular. The government encourages and supports these efforts, as well as similar initiatives of the Malay and Indian communities.
Our culture has to be a living asset. We hold on to it not by keeping it frozen, but by re-inventing it for each new generation, preserving its essence while adapting its forms to changing times and circumstances. This is how we can keep the essence of what makes us Singaporean, and keep Singapore thriving.
Singaporeans can look forward to a bright future together. The rise of Asia will generate buzz and vitality in our economic and cultural landscapes. We are well placed to be part of the region’s development, to become a shining city at the heart of a booming Asia.
I wish all Singaporeans a very happy Year of the Rabbit. — Today

Assalamualaikum Tun,
Clearly Tun is a visionary leader, always thinking one step ahead, already advising the potential new governments to have a clear goal to address the needs of the people, less they forget and become the corrupt government they had previously overthrown.
I have deep respect to our Egyptian and Tunisian brothers who have shown bravery in the face of an oppressive and authoritarian government to make changes happen in their respective countries. And if other Islamic countries were following this domino effect, then I hope the change would be for the betterment of the Ummah and Islam.
To a certain extent, we now know how Israel, through the US, are able to dominate and control the politics in the Middle east all these past years.
By having authoritarian government, instead of trying to control the millions of Muslims in each country, simply by controlling the leader or head of governments, then the Muslim countries would be submissive to the US, who is indirectly controlled by Israel.
Thus, we are able to see Egypt, a Muslim nation, who until recently, helped Israel blocked food and medical supplies from entering Palestine. Indeed, Israel is now worried with the fall of Mubarak.
We are also able to see how Muslims nations bases were used as fueling and launching pads to attack Iraq which killed many innocent Iraqis in the Gulf War.
By freeing themselves from corrupt authoritarian rule, the Muslim nations are freeing themselves from the shackles of the US and Israel.
My advise is for our Muslims brothers to be careful when forming the new government. Already the we read from Blair, and western nations, about 'managing' the change. They do not want Islamist who uphold to the true teachings of Islam to rule the country.
Instead they want a liberal, secular and democratic government to rule the country. In other words, they agree for Mubarak to step down, but be changed with someone who will continue to toe the line and follow the US and indirectly, Israel's bidding.
The change is merely for the people to calm down. All policies and direction of the previous government that are pro-US and Israel they want to remain.
The future government must develop their nation to be strong and powerful to stand against the enemies of Islam.
In this time of chaos and change, I call upon our Muslim brothers to seek guidance in the Al-Quran and As-Sunnah. Allahuakhbar! Allahuakhbar! Allahuakhbar!
The day the crescent moon revolution envelopes the Middle East is the end of the world. Tunisia, Eqypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Turkey will envelope Israel and a world conflict will happen. There is just too many mouths to feed and too much damage done to mother earth to sustain such growth. Food and water is scarce and not enough jobs to go around in the Middle East and the people has nowhere to turn except revolution and war.
Yes, you are absolutely right in praying that the replacement government will hopefully do better than the previous government or history will repeat itself. Frankly I do not personally see any better life for the people over there and they will become more radical to Israel and blames the West for their miserable lives.
The world has changed so much since World War 2 as the world's population has more than doubled. More and more countries are moving away from agriculture and going into technology. The rich fertile land is being destroyed from pollution or too much development. The sea is overfished and polluted daily.
Yes, it is indeed gloomy for the poorer countries and the richer, more developed countries that are self sustainable will do better for the time being. Darwinian theory of natural selection will be at the fore front where the strongest survive in future or if you believe in Allah/God, it will be God's will.
Salam Tun,
My simple anology to what happened in Egypt and Tunisia..
"Hungry people are angry people"...
MKay
as per items no. 10, we see a lot of well-educated arabs are working overseas such as in US, UK, AU, MY, and else where and even being a top leader in the world organizations. Why the arabs countries or other muslim countries cannot use them?
Assalamualaikum Tun!
Riots in Malaysia could be soon too.
Not today, not tomorrow, maybe not in the next 5 years...but judging our historical past we are most certainly capable of it and if the image of corruption persists in Malaysia, a major riot is inevitable.
Dirgahayu Tun Berdua,
Memang benar sekali pemerhatian Tun.
Assalamu'alaikum warohmatullahi wabarokatuh.
Tun Dr. Mahathir,
Islam taught us to work hard for a living so that we don't become beggers and have to ask for help from others.
Hi Tun,
I really hope that one day, the UN can play the sole and professional role in organizing elections, catering to the needs of the vast and different democratic systems of its member states.
The organizing committee should be on a rotating basis, and elected from the countries representing different cultures in the world.
In that case, the election results will be more convincing, well respected, and everybody will be happy.
